After 23 years as a part of the Eumemmerring/Fountain Gate SC community, Assistant Principal Mr Neil Uwins is embarking on his next chapter: retirement. Mr Uwins has been an important part of our school community for decades. It is not an exaggeration to say that he remembered every student's name and had a profound impact on many families over the years. When organising a private function to celebrate Mr Uwins' impending retirement, we reached out to our school alumni community to share any words of thanks or memories of they wanted to share. We were overwhelmed with the huge responses we received with many families sharing the positive influence their encounters with Mr Uwins had on their lives. Many are striving to follow in the footsteps of their mentor as educators and future school leaders, modelling their inspirations on his leadership.
We bid a formal farewell last week where staff past and present came to celebrate an amazing career spanning decades. Led by our Principal Ms Jo Cucchiara and Assistant Principals Ms Sally Sherman and Mr Duncan Threadgold, we were entertained with stories and words of inspiration. Former Principals Mr Peter Hanratty and Ms Vicki Walters were also in attendance, with Ms Walters sharing a touching tribute of their time working as leaders forming the foundation of Fountain Gate SC when it split from the Eumemmerring cluster to become its own entity.
The outpouring of support and gratitude from staff and the school community is a testament to the legacy that Mr Uwins leaves behind with something for us all to aspire to. He will forever be a part of the Fountain Gate Secondary College/Eumemmerring community. We wish him well in this next phase of his life.
THANK YOU MR UWINS!
