Student Parent-Teacher Interviews
Thank you to the families that could attend the Student—parent—teacher Interviews on Tuesday 11th of March. Meeting and interacting with students and families on the day was a pleasure. Our staff approached the interviews with enthusiasm and dedication, keeping the best interests of our students at the forefront of everything we do.
Student - Parent - Teacher - Interviews provide a platform for us as a school to inform parents/carers about your child’s progress and offer us a unique opportunity to learn from parents/carers about your child’s individual needs and strengths. They also serve to:
• Establishing early connections
• Identifying early challenges or concerns
• Setting clear academic and behavioural expectations
• Celebrating progress
• Strengthening Partnerships
Thank you for taking the time to attend. Your commitment to being involved in your child’s education makes a difference.
NAPLAN
The National Assessment Program - Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) is a literacy and numeracy assessment that students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 sit each year. It is the only national assessment all Australian students have the opportunity to undertake.
As students progress through their school years, it is important to check how well they are learning the essential skills of reading, writing and numeracy.
NAPLAN started on Wednesday the 12th of March, and will run again on the following dates:
• Friday the 14th of March
• Monday the 17th of March
• Tuesday the 18th of March
School Leadership Assembly
On Wednesday, 5 March, I was excited to attend the Leadership Assembly, where we formally inducted and welcomed our 2025 Student Leaders into their new roles. It was a special occasion, shared with our supportive families, as these students took on the responsibility of leading our school with pride.
Our student leaders will serve as role models, inspiring their peers to uphold our core values of Respect, Responsibility, Endeavour, and Honesty. A highlight of the assembly was watching them proudly receive their certificates and badges and enjoying Victoria Handjaja’s beautiful performance of Für Elise by Beethoven. We were fortunate to hear an inspiring speech from Joshua Velasquez, our 2024 School Captain.
I look forward to working alongside our student leaders throughout the year as they positively impact our school community.
Mobile Phone Policy
We want to acknowledge and applaud the students who diligently follow our Mobile Phone Policy. However, we want to address many instances where mobile phones have been used or placed in pockets. We seek your continued support to ensure that your child’s mobile phone is turned off and stored in their locker while on school grounds. This is a Ministerial policy which we are mandated to follow.
We truly appreciate your ongoing understanding and cooperation in reinforcing this policy and thank you for your continued support as we maintain a learning environment that encourages focus, engagement, and mutual respect.
FGSC Mobile Phone Policy
Thank you for your ongoing support of our College.
Stay safe, and best wishes,
Jo Cucchiara
