Principal's Report Term 4, Week 7

Dear Parents/Carers, Students and Families,

As we enter the second half of the fourth term, our dedicated teachers and diligent students are preparing for their year-end assessments.

What can you do to support this work?

You can encourage your child to:
•    Be organised
•    Arrive to class on time with their correct equipment and be ready to learn
•    Complete and submit their best work
•    You can support your child by:
•    Reminding them about the importance of having a growth mindset
•    Keeping them healthy - appropriate amounts of sleep, exercise and healthy food
•    Discussing and showing an interest in their learning

VCE Exams

The VCE exams commenced on Tuesday 29 October with an extremely positive start, setting a great tone for the exam period. Students arrived prepared, focused, and motivated, reflecting the hard work and dedication they've shown throughout the year. A special thanks to our dedicated VCE team for their efforts in ensuring a smooth, organised beginning and for their ongoing support and encouragement. We wish all our VCE students continued success.

2025 College Captains

I was incredibly proud to hear our 2025 College Captain candidates deliver their inspiring speeches to our Year 7 to 11 students on Monday 28 October. Then, on Thursday 7 November, I had the honour of participating in the final step of the selection process - interviews with a panel that included Student Leadership Coordinator Joseph Ulale, Assistant Principal Carys Freeman, our 2024 Captain Ben Montgomery, and Vice-Captain Marzia Akbari. Each candidate came well-prepared and demonstrated a range of outstanding skills and attributes, making it difficult for the panel to select the final four. The quality of the applicants was truly impressive.

Please join me in congratulating Moustafa Mohannade and Paige Atkinson, our new College Captains for 2025.

Congratulations also go to our Vice Captains, Gurdish Singh and Mahnaz Akbari

Market Day

On Friday 8 November, we held Market Day planned and executed by our Year 10 Business and Economic students with the support of their teachers. It was fantastic to see students actively involved in counting and handling money. Many thanks to the Humanities team for making this event a success, and to all the staff and students who supported the day with their presence and purchases.

Minister of Education and Local Member of Parliament Visit

The Hon. Ben Carroll, Minister for Education, and Belinda Wilson, MP for Narre Warren North visited the College on Wednesday 6 November at 9:30 am. The purpose of their visit was to discuss the School Saving Bonus for parents and carers of each Victorian government school student in 2025. The visit was a great success, and I want to extend my gratitude for the outstanding support and teamwork from everyone involved. A special thank you to our student leaders and instrumental performers, as well as to the parents and staff for their contributions that made the visit so successful.

Thank you again for your continued support of the College.

Stay safe,
Jo Cucchiara
