Term 3 Acting Principal Report

Dear Parents, Carers and Guardians,

As we approach the end of Term 3, I would like to thank our students and their families for their ongoing commitment and collaboration. Thank you to our families who attended our student-parent-teacher interviews earlier this week.  These sessions are essential to maintaining our partnership in supporting your child’s development and learning.  It was wonderful to see so many families in attendance.

I would also like to take a moment to thank our school community for their support throughout this term, particularly during the last 6 weeks while I’ve been in the Acting Principal role.  I have appreciated everyone’s efforts to ensure our students have continued to adhere to our high expectations and continuing to work towards our school’s goals.

Food Deliveries

We have noticed an increase in food being dropped off to the college.  We have a canteen on-site which offers hot and cold food.  For convenience, this can also be ordered online in advance.  Students are also encouraged to bring a packed lunch.  Students are not permitted to receive food deliveries from third parties (such as Uber Eats, Door Dash, Menulog etc) during the school day.  We understand that sometimes for a range of reasons, you may need to drop-off your child’s lunch.  Our preference is that you drop-off a packed lunch or money to be used at the canteen as we do not have the capacity to keep food warm or cold. We also cannot guarantee that students will receive the food straight away.

This term, there were many notable events and achievements to celebrate.  Some of these were:

School Production: Chicago

A huge thank you and congratulations to the staff and students behind our school production of ‘Chicago’.  This was a fantastic opportunity for our Performing Arts students to showcase their skills to our community, and we appreciate their commitment and dedication.  Reports from the community was that this production was exceptional, with compliments focused on the high calibre of talent and production on display.

Rugby Rebel Shield

Congratulations to our Under 18 girls rugby team, who won their Grand Final of the Rebel Shield beating the ‘Barbarians’ state team 41-26.  For many of these students, it was their last chance to play for Fountain Gate Secondary College, and this will be a special memory of their time at our school.

4C’s

Congratulations to our students who participated in the 4C’s performance at Bunjil Place.  For families who were unable to secure tickets to this sold out event, we were pleased to host a dress rehearsal in our school gym where the community came from far and wide to support and celebrate our students.  The diversity of school community is something we’re all proud of, and it was fantastic to see this showcased for the wider community.  Thank you to all staff and students who took advantage of this fantastic opportunity to connect with their culture, their community, our school, and with each other.

Year 11 Formal

Our Year 11 students hit the dance floor last week celebrating a year of hard work and study at their Year 11 formal.  This was a chance for our students to dress up, dance and celebrate their achievements over the past year with their friends, teachers and support staff.  The formal is an important rite of passage as they transition into exams before starting their final year of schooling.  The memories of the night were captured with the photo booth proving to be popular among friend groups.  We will share some of these images in our next issue.

We look forward to welcoming back Principal Jo Cucchiara and our student cohort in Term 4 commencing on Monday 7th of October.  I hope you all have a wonderful and well-deserved break.
