Victorian Schools Music Festival
On Wednesday 28th of August our school band members participated in the Victorian School Music Festival at the Hawthorn Arts Centre. By participating in the Victorian School Music Festival, students create and interpret music from a variety of genres linking aspects of their curriculum to this live performance. They worked collaboratively to present a complex range of musical techniques and effects, which is linked to the respond and adapt to other musicians element of our curriculum. Students were set a goal specific to their ensemble and were provided the opportunity to perform for and listen to like minded schools from around the state of Victoria. The senior concert band received an appraisal of their work and had the opportunity to be tutored by international band directors. Our band was promoted to the attending panel of experts and other schools with instrumental programs who were also in attendance.
Here is our incredible band in action. We are so proud of our students for overcoming their nerves and the professionalism they displayed on stage as school representatives. Our instrumental music program has undertaken significant growth over the past few years with a large range of instrument instruction on offer.
