Important information for Year 10 students regarding Work Experience

IMPORTANT INFORMATION - Work Experience (21 Oct - 25 Oct)

Year 10 students should be making their way through a Work Experience Assignment that has been handed out and worked through during sporadic English classes throughout Term 2 (commenced in April) and Term 3.

The Work Experience placement program will run from 21st of October through to the 25th of October and it is an expectation that all students find and obtain a placement.

Should a student not find a placement they will be placed in an alternative school-based program and are expected at school.

You can obtain a Work Experience Form from the Pathways Office (during recess, lunch or before or after school. The form is also attached to this post) or from your English Teacher. Students have 5 weeks from today to find a Work Experience placement.

Once you have found placement:

1. Students and parents must complete and sign the work experience arrangement form,
2. Have the employer fill in and sign the form and then return the form to the Pathways Office.
3. The Pathways Office will get the form signed by the Principal on your behalf.
4. The Pathways team will forward the completed form to your employer and provide the student with a copy.

Securing a work experience placement will take time and often requires contacting several employers before being successful. Use your assignment as a resource.

Students must be 15 years of age at the time of their work experience placement, and it cannot be undertaken: in a dangerous or hazardous workplace or during school holidays.

Before a student can attend work experience, they must complete Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) training (Safe@Work) – this is mandatory and will be required to be completed as a part of the research task. To complete Safe@Work these modules the please go to: https://www.education.vic.gov.au/school/students/beyond/Pages/quiz.aspx
