German Exchange Trivia Night - A Great Success

Wednesday 23rd August, 2017.

On September 8th six Fountain Gate students and thirteen Gleneagles students along with Mrs Tchantcho and Ms Rooney will be making their way to Germany for our month-long exchange. The students are so excited they are counting down the days eagerly.

To help raise some much-needed funds for them, the students and their parents with Mrs Tchantcho’s support, helped to organise a very successful trivia night and silent auction on Friday 11th August. Hosted by the professional Quiz-master Ash Cooper and attended by 45 eager participants, the night had an amazing atmosphere, and teams learnt a lot of general knowledge facts and even got to brush up on their German logos, celebrities and maths. The night was a great success in part due to the preparation of the families in seeking out donations and sponsorship and from the staff members who helped us to set up the library on the evening.

Our major sponsors Lamont Books and Officeworks donated money directly to the students. We were also given some fantastic items for the silent auction including two Gold Class twin pass vouchers, $100 of Bunnings vouchers, $100 from Vicious Sloth, over $100 of St John first aid kits, a Tiffany bracelet, two hair cut and blow-waves and a gorgeous beauty product hamper from Opal Hair in Officer, a $20 Kmart voucher, an Officeworks stationery pack, Timbarra Thai voucher, toys from Toyworld, vouchers from the Pancake Parlour, Ozpin bowling and TGI Fridays and even a signed copy of the program from the Book of Mormon.

Throughout the night participants took part in extra activities like: heads and tails, coin toss, and musical chairs. Once the final scores were added up, the top 2 and 3 placed teams only had a point between them, but the team ‘the stutterers’ won the night and took home a giant basket full of German goodies. Thank you to everyone who contributed to our successful evening which raised $1400 for the students.
