On Thursday, 23rd November, a new Mod5 portable was delivered and installed beside the VCE Centre. The Mod5 will provide an additional two classrooms for our VCE students and a staffroom which will be utilised as the Careers Office. This additional classroom space will be available at the commencement of 2018.
What a fantastic attendance of students and families for our Year 7 2018 Information Night held on Monday, 20th November. Despite the heat, we had over 400 people present, all eager to hear about what our College has to offer. All feedback was very positive and we look forward to welcoming our new students in 2018.
We bid our Year 12 students farewell. Our Year 12 students completed all their final exams for 2017.
You should all be so proud of yourselves for working hard throughout the year and setting an excellent example to the whole school community with your commitment.
On behalf of myself, Mr Broecker, Mr Uwins and all the teachers and staff at Fountain Gate Secondary College, we wish you every success for the future. We look forward to hearing about your tertiary course acceptances and the career paths you choose to follow. Whatever you decide, always know that you are welcome back to the College for any advice and assistance with tertiary applications and alternative study pathways. We are always here to help you.
On Wednesday 29th November, the College held the annual Valedictory Dinner at The Grand in Wantirna South. The event is a College tradition, and this year we had over 500 guests, 50 teachers and over 100 graduates. The evening was a great success and it was an absolute honour to present all College graduates to the school community.
Each College graduate received a Graduation Sash which looked great in all of the photos. In addition to this, students with outstanding results in Year 12 were presented with Subject Dux Awards, and Domain Program Awards. It was great to see so many students receive awards, and we hope they put the money to good use.
The formalities finished at 9 pm, and the rest of the time was allocated to family photos, and live music from College Alumni Jordan Marcovici, who was the DJ on the night. The venue looked beautiful and it was so great to see all our Year 12’s again.
On behalf of the school community, I would like to thank and congratulate all of 2017 Graduates. They have been an absolute pleasure to work with all year, and I wish them all the best in their future endeavours. (Photos to follow in next edition of School Newsletter.)
Our Year 10 and 11 students completed their exams. Congratulations to all students for their effort and participation. Exam results will be available on students’ end of year reports, which will be available to view online after the 18th of December. Year 9 English and Mathematics exams are taking place next week.
We encourage all students and their families to attend Presentation Night on Monday, 18th December at 7 pm, at the Berwick Church of Christ Hall in Centre Road Berwick. Students receiving awards will be notified soon. However, the evening is not just for students who have received awards, but for the whole school community. We encourage everyone to attend.
On Tuesday 12th December and Wednesday 13th December, we will welcome the 2018 Year 7 students to our school community. Over the two days, students will meet their Home Group Teachers and have the chance to explore our school and all the wonderful opportunities it has to offer.
It was a proud week for students within Fountain Gate’s High Achiever Program, as on Wednesday night their outstanding work was showcased for all to see. Everyone celebrated with beautifully catered food by the Year 7 High Achiever class and the sweet sounds of students playing their instruments in the background. We are continuously being blown away by these students’ achievements and passion towards learning. Well done to all those involved!
Do you have any skateboards, spare or broken parts and/or protective gear that you like to donate to the school? Our Technology department is seeking any unwanted parts to assist with future projects. We are also interested in helmets, protective knee and elbow pads. If you can assist, please ask your students to bring them to the Technology Office.
We kindly ask all parents to please check theirs student’s hair for head lice/eggs. We have had a few confirmed cases at school and would appreciate your assistance to prevent spreading amongst the student community. Thank you.
