Principal Report

Welcome Back, ANZAC Ceremony, 2017 Open Night, Continuous Reporting & School Council
Friday 21st April, 2017.
Principal, Featured News.

Firstly, I would like to say “welcome back” to all our existing students and families. I hope your Easter break was enjoyable. It has been a positive start to the term with all classes beginning well.

A special welcome to a number of new students to our College.

I would also like to welcome our new staff members:

I would like to congratulate all our students on their fantastic behaviour on our Annual Cross Country that was at the end of last term. This provided an excellent opportunity in the sporting arena to aspire and excel. These events are always a great opportunity for students to showcase their talents on the track and have some fun and enjoy the day. It’s also a great opportunity for our staff and students to build relationships outside of the classroom. I would like to thank the parents and ex-students who cooked the food for lunch. They did a fantastic job cooking over 2,000 sausages on the day.

ANZAC Ceremony

The College annual ANZAC ceremony will take place this Monday 24th April at 8.50 am for a 9.00am start.

All parents are welcome to attend and special guests, parents and friends are invited to join our Student Leaders, SRC members and Principal Team in the Library for morning tea after the ceremony.

2017 Open Night

Fountain Gate Secondary College Open Night is Thursday 27th April.

A Principals welcome begins at 5.30pm, followed by school and classroom tours.

Everyone is welcome to attend and a BBQ will be included.

There will also be school tours with the Principal running during the day at 9.30am and 2.00pm for those that are unable to attend the evening session.

Continuous Reporting

We have commenced our College-wide roll out of the ‘continuous reporting’ model, whereby parents and students can access feedback on student learning progressively throughout the term. This enables parents to have richer conversations with students about the specifics of their learning, and where they need to focus their attention. This feedback on learning is available via Compass. The phone app is by far the easiest way to connect, and is available by searching “Compass Education” in the various app stores.

School Council

We held our school council Annual General Meeting at the end of last term, and I congratulate Angelo Herft, Lisa Noble and Jodie Norton on being elected President, Vice President and Treasurer, respectively. The college will operate two sub-committees of council, being Resources and Facilities. We welcome Michelle Generowicz as a new parent to the committee and Matt Jerram and Jessica Nikitina Li as student representatives.

As always we encourage parents to be involved; if you have any topics you’d like raised or discussed please forward them via the general office and we will agenda them at school council.
