House Athletics Carnival:

On Tuesday, 13th March, the House Athletics Carnival was held at Casey Fields. We are very excited to report that our school had great participation levels, which was truly a magnificent effort. The students represented our school with excellent sportsmanship and outstanding skill. Many of our students placed in their respective efforts and the following students who won their events will progress further to represent the school at the Division Athletics Carnival.

Well done to every student who represented the school and good luck to those who will be competing in the next round against the opposing schools in the Casey North Division.

Cultural Diversity Week:

The students at Fountain Gate Secondary College participated in Cultural Diversity Week. It is all about about respect, inclusiveness, and belonging for all Australians.

Australia is the most successful multicultural country on earth, and its definitely something to celebrate each and every day! We've proudly accepted migrants from near and far into this great country of ours, providing us with a world of opportunity. From fabulous foods to colourful cultural celebrations, we've truly embraced multiculturalism in our country.

Cultural Dress Day is on Friday 23rd March 2018. Students participating in this program wore traditional cultural clothing from their country of birth or their parents’ country of birth. Students who identify with ‘non-Indigenous Australian traditional culture’ (i.e. European Australian Culture), wore clothing that reflected one of the following 6 options: farmers, miners, convicts, bushrangers, gold diggers, ANZACs/Defence Forces.

Thank you to all staff and students who assisted with the organisation and/or participated in this wonderful event. I look forward to sharing some wonderfu photos with you in the next Newsletter.

Open Night – Tuesday 27th March 2018:

Fountain Gate Secondary College invites all future students and families to our Open Night. This evening is designed to give future students and families an overview of our wonderful school and all that it has to offer. There will be a formal staff introduction as well as a relaxed ‘meet and greet’ with our staff. Guided School Tours will be running during the day and a free BBQ Sausage Sizzle in the late afternoon for all present. We welcome all community members and look forward to meeting our prospective 2019 students and families.

Congratulations to Year 12 student Jordan Gavin:

Jordan Gavin has been selected as a member of the School Sport Victoria Team Vic 17 and Under Baseball State Team. This team will compete in the annual School Sport Australia Baseball Championship held this year in Adelaide, South Australia from 29th April to 5th May 2018. The team will compete against ACT, NSW, QLD, WA and SA.

Congratulations Jordan.

Congratulations to Year 7 student Koreti Leilua:

Koreti Leilua was awarded the Rugby League Victorian School Sports Awards for 2017. Koreti was literally 'tackling the boys' as the only female competitor in the Under 12 National Rugby League Championship. Koreti not only competed alongside and against boys in the competition, she also stood out as a star among them and has since used this experience to help coach the College's girls' rugby team to great success. Kareti is a respected leader within our College community and has also excelled at athletics for many years.

We love hearing about our students’ great achievements. If your child has recently been awarded with an important extracurricular sports or academic award, please email Sal Murgana at Enable JavaScript to view protected content..

STEM Construction Update:

Demolition is well underway of the old Technology rooms. The old classroom have been stripped of all internal fixtures and walls, making way for new construction of a much larger STEM Centre.

These photos show the progress from tearing down walls to completely empty classrooms.

Keeping our environment clean:

A reminder to all students, staff and families to be mindful of any rubbish that may be dropped around the external vicinity of the College. We do such a good job at keeping our school yard clean; let’s extend that beyond our College gates. This includes cigarette butts, tissues, food wrappers and food scraps. Our school will look clean, but more importantly, our environment will be healthy.
