In Week 5, all Year 9 students participated in the first part of their City Experience Program.
Meeting teachers at Narre Warren Station, they travelled by train into the City to attend the Urban Seed Tour. Urban Seed is an organisation that runs interactive workshops and walks around the CBD that address homelessness, addiction and community involvement that aim to increase understanding and connection across different groups throughout Melbourne.
The Year 9s participated in the Urban Seed ‘Most Liveable City Walk’, where they unpacked themes of stereotyping, inclusion/exclusion and power to discuss homelessness, disadvantage, addiction and mental health. While on the tour, students collected data for their Major Health CAT and participated in open discussions centred around homelessness. The excursion was an opportunity for students to prepare for their major City Experience in Week 10.
