Fountain Gate Secondary College welcomed back a record-breaking 14 alumni to assist our Year 10 students with their VCE pre-requisites at Year 10 Discovery Day. The alumni spoke about the importance of researching university courses before selecting VCE subjects, provided insight into university life and helped students gain a clear understanding of different university courses and post-school pathways. Also, given the importance placed on transferrable skill development - alumni highlighted soft and industry-specific skills needed for job security.

On the 15th of May, eight students from Years 10-12 attended the Model United Nations Conference at Monash University, hosted by the Monash University Law School and the United Nations Association of Australia. Our students represented two countries, the United Kingdom and Saudi Arabia as country ambassadors, presenting their country's position to the General Assembly and debating and working with other countries and delegates to propose and adapt a draft UN resolution on the topic of 'Sustainable Cities and Communities: Towards a Resilient Future.'
Our Breakfast Club which runs every morning from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. has been an enormous success! We would like to thank Aldi Cranbourne for their generous donation of bread and fruit for our breakfast club and thank you to Subway Narre Warren for donating rolls.
Fountain Gate Secondary College's 2019 Anzac Day Assembly.
An ANZAC Day assembly was held at Fountain Gate Secondary College on Wednesday the 24th April to commemorate the 104th anniversary of the Gallipoli landing. Staff and students came together to hear the stories and reflections of war from guest speakers and as such, we were reminded of the great sacrifices that were made then, as well as those who currently serve our country overseas. Our College also received a beautiful artwork that captured the Australian poppy and the French cornflower. This exquisite piece will be proudly displayed in our foyer, an ongoing commemoration of our gratitude to those who have served. We are extremely grateful to Mr. Calvin Bell of Narre Warren South who generously donated this artwork to our school.
We sincerely thank all of our speakers and guests who attended our assembly and shared their journeys, particularly on such a special anniversary. We thank all of our student leaders, our proud flag bearers, instrumentalists and singers as well as the numerous staff who assisted in the preparations for the day. We could not have run it as successfully as we did without you all. We believe that today's moving assembly touched many and hope that in doing so, that the spirit of ANZAC continues on. Lest we forget.
