Fountain Gate Secondary College's Concert Band brings home gold!

We are incredibly proud to announce that Fountain Gate Secondary College's Intermediate Concert Band were presented with their first-ever Gold Award for their performance at the Victoria School Music Festival on Wednesday 31st July!

The band has been working hard throughout the year on developing their sound with festival adjudicators describing their performance as “engaging and mature" and praising the band’s listening skills and balanced sound. Congratulations!

Model United Nations Conference

On the 31.07.2019, eight of our Year 10-12 students attended the Model United Nations Conference, hosted by Hampton Park Secondary College. A Model UN Conference is a creative simulation of the United Nations General Assembly in which students represent Member States of the UN. This conference was dedicated to the sustainable development goal of 'Achieving Gender Equality: Empowering Women and Girls' where students went through a draft resolution to debate how this could be achieved, what resolutions needed to change to reflect this and how countries could support each other in accomplishing this goal.

Our students represented three countries, Ukraine, Canada and Iran and presented strong cases for their individual countries as the biggest challenge for students is ensuring that they accurately represent the allocated countries rather than their personal opinions on the topic. Congratulations on a fantastic day out and the hard work put into the multiple meetings in preparation for the Conference!

Rugby Academy Tour to New Zealand

On the 06.08.19, 30 students from Fountain Gate Secondary College's Rugby Academy headed off to New Zealand to experience rugby at the highest level! They will be playing games against New Zealand schools and experience New Zealand rugby culture with this being a first for a state school in Victoria!

The next day started off with a morning training session at Ponsonby Rugby Club before their first overseas rugby game for the tournament! This club has such a rich history and has produced 47 members of New Zealand’s National Rugby Union Team, All Blacks.

Year 7 and 8 students watch documentary 2040

On Friday, our 7E and 8E students explored the potential realities of their future, by watching the documentary 2040. Throughout the documentary, Damon Gameau presents a story of hope that explores ways in which humanity can reverse global warming and improve the lives of every living thing in the process. He embarks on an amazing global journey where he meeting innovators and changemakers in the areas of economics, technology, civil society, agriculture, education and sustainability. Students were left inspired, empowered and ready to take action!

Victory at the South East Rugby Sevens Champs
