New Arrivals Program (NAP)

New English learners who have recently arrived in Australia should seek enrolment at the Noble Park English Language School.

In the event that NPELS is unable to place a new arrival to Australia, students can enrol with us and join our New Arrivals Program. This program is designed to help students learn English as an Additional Language from whichever starting point they have.

Students moving from NPELS may occasionally be placed in the New Arrivals Program, especially if their English levels show they will benefit from a more supported transition to mainstream education.

The New Arrivals Program is a multi-aged class, with students ranging from years 7 to 10 enrolled. The program develops the students’ English language skills via these main focal areas:

  • Language Instruction
  • Exploring texts
  • Numeracy
  • Humanities
  • Health and Physical Education
  • The Arts
  • Personal Development (Thrive)

Students are regularly assessed and may be moved into the mainstream EAL and year-level programs at any time within the year. However, the usual time frame in this program is 6 to 12 months.
