Instrumental Music Program

As part of the High Achiever Program, all year 7 hap students learn a brass or woodwind instrument for the year.

The Instruments we offer tuition for are:

Cost of the program

The annual fee of only $150 per year gets your child:

Based on a ten week term, this fee equates to $3.75 per lesson. Most schools and music studios charge $30 per lesson. Our College believes that music is an important part of a young person’s life, so wants to make it accessible to as many students as possible. We also hope that the subsidised lesson fee will assist in purchasing an instrument for your child, so they can practise regularly at home.

Instrument Purchase

If you are considering purchasing your child an instrument (new or second-hand), our specialist music teachers are the best people to contact before purchasing. We can recommend brands, music shops, and give you a list of things to “look out for” if you are planning on purchasing second hand.

We believe that buying an instrument is the best gift you can give your child, as you will be giving them a gift they can enjoy for the rest of their lives (and, if taken care of, won’t need replacing!)

Instrument Hire

Instrument hire is offered to Year 7 students for the following instruments:

The cost of hire is $50 per year, refunded at the end of the year when the instrument is returned.

Please contact Ms. Boekel, instrumental music coordinator, at the college on (03) 8762 6839 for any enquiries.
