Schools Doing Great Things - Fountain Gate Secondary College
On Wednesday, 8 October 2025, Fountain Gate Secondary College in Victoria officially opened its new VET Health Simulated Clinic, reinforcing the school's strong commitment to delivering high-quality VET Health programs for its students.
Led by VET Health team members Katie Byers and Joanne Van de Velde, the program has achieved outstanding outcomes, empowering students with both practical skills and a strong understanding of professional expectations in the healthcare sector.
These successes were proudly reflected in a speech delivered by Student Leadership Team representative Ruhe Madadi. Ruhe highlighted how the VET Health program, supported by IVET and delivered onsite by trainer Katie Byers, has gone beyond technical competence to foster a deeper understanding of the responsibilities and values essential in the healthcare field.
Through completing the Certificate III in Health Services Assistance, students have gained clarity around their future pathways, with many now aspiring to careers as nurses, midwives, aged care professionals and paramedics.
The newly opened simulated clinic has generated renewed enthusiasm among students, providing an authentic learning environment that enhances their overall competence and brings real-world healthcare practices to life. The Student Leadership Team also acknowledged the dedication and professionalism of their trainer, Miss Byers, praising her commitment to ensuring students are well prepared for successful futures in the health industry.
The opening was officiated by the local Member of Parliament, the Honourable Belinda Wilson, who expressed her pride in the achievements of the school, the VET Health team and the students. She described Fountain Gate Secondary College as a beacon of excellence in VET Health education.
Following the official opening, students and attendees had the opportunity to explore the new facility and trial equipment, including a sphygmomanometer, further showcasing the hands-on learning.
