All parents and carers are required to give a reason for every absence. Type your child's name below, choose the reason that matches, then copy the example note and paste it into Compass.
The examples below update as you type. Click anything shown like this to fill it in without leaving the page.
Tip: when submitting an attendance note in Compass, please take the time to add a short explanation of the reason you have selected. It helps our team support your child.

Extended Family Holiday
Student is not at school as they are on an extended family holiday. Their parent or carer has received prior approval from the principal for the absence and a Student Absence Learning Plan has been considered.
If your child will miss more than 4 days of school, you must contact the Year Level Hub for approval by the Year Level Assistant Principal, and an Absence Learning Plan will be put in place. Short breaks (e.g. a long weekend) are recorded as Parent Choice.
Religious or Cultural Observance
Student is not attending school due to religious or cultural observance.
Please contact the school in advance and clearly describe the reason (e.g. Ramadan Eid celebration). Pre-approval by the Year Level Assistant Principal is required.
Parent Choice, School Unapproved
Student is not at school and their parent or carer has:
- provided a reason for the absence (for example, shopping, visiting friends), but the school does not consider this a reasonable excuse
- provided a reason for the absence, but approval has not been sought in advance or in accordance with school policy or conditions of approval (for example, requirements for extended family holiday or school refusal)
- advised the school that their child is unable to attend due to a requirement to work in the family business (for example, farm work, in a restaurant or shop)
- advised the school that the student is attending private tutoring or a re-engagement program that is not organised by the school.
Automatically unapproved unless approval has been sought from the Year Level Leader. Please give details to support approval.
