The Fountain Gate Secondary College curriculum ensures all students have every opportunity to succeed, and to be actively engaged, well-rounded citizens. All Year 7 & 8 students participate in a diverse program of ‘core’ subjects. This program offers a range of engaging learning experiences, as well as providing students with the opportunity to identify their passions and interests.
On their first important days, Year 7 students participate in a Start-up program, focused on exposing students to the key skills and learning dispositions to ensure a successful start to their school journey. This program allows them to begin their regular schooling by strengthening relationships with their peers and teachers, while gaining an understanding of high school.
Subjects taught at Year 7 are a combination of year-long and long subjects. To aid transition and develop connectedness, every student is linked with a ‘Thrive’ teacher. This allows students to be well-known and supported by their teachers. The Year 7 program also features an emphasis on guided inquiry and structured learning sequences to promote student growth.
