In Year 7, students have the opportunity to bond with their classmates within their individual Home Group. Each Home Group has a dedicated ‘Thrive’ teacher who works closely with them and serves as a trusted adult for our new Year 7 students. These Thrive teachers are chosen based on who teaches the class most frequently to help students feel comfortable around them.
Students are placed into specific Home Groups deliberately, considering factors such as primary school recommendations, ability groups, points of need, and more. Due to the careful consideration involved in home group placements, moving home groups will unfortunately not be possible.
Mainstream classes are scheduled to be as close together as possible. This minimises movement around the school between classes, facilitates Year 7 support visits to classrooms, and enhances opportunities for collaborative work between classes.
