Our Year 9 program is based on the Victorian Curriculum 2.0 ( https://f10.vcaa.vic.edu.au/ ) and our CORE subjects aligns with these expectations.
All students must study an English, a Mathematics, Science, Humanities, Health & Physical Education and Thrive (Pastoral Care and Careers) as part of their Year 9 program. This ensures they have a strong theoretical base, as well as the core literacy and numeracy skills needed for the upcoming stages of education.
In Year 9, students can now select specific areas from The Arts and The Technologies. These learning areas have a wide range of choice and students are strongly encouraged to look at the subject pathways mapping table to see where each subject choice can lead.
The Arts and Technologies are vital parts of the learning program, and develop a wide range of skills, including critical and creative thinking, problem solving and project planning, and will form part of the Year 9 program. Students have been exposed to these areas in Years 7 and 8 and now have the option to apply the basic skills from the junior schooling into this stage of their education.
