Art Making and Exhibiting (Photography) is a practical and creative subject where students explore:
Students create original photographic artworks inspired by contemporary Australian and international photographers while learning how photographic artworks are prepared, presented and exhibited for audiences.
A strong focus of the course is developing photographic skills and creative image-making. Students learn how to use a DSLR camera to capture striking photographs, experiment with creative camera effects and transform images using Adobe Photoshop.
Through practical photo shoots and digital editing activities, students develop an understanding of how photographs can communicate stories, emotions and ideas. They are introduced to a range of photographic styles, genres and contemporary photographers while exploring how images are shared, displayed and experienced in exhibitions, galleries and digital spaces.
Students will develop foundational photography skills while learning how to confidently use digital cameras, compose effective images and edit photographs using industry-standard software. Students also experiment with long-exposure photography, creative lighting techniques and digital image editing to produce unique photographic artworks.

Students will analyse photographic artworks by examining photographic techniques, art elements and principles and aesthetic qualities while developing an understanding of how photographers communicate meaning through images.
Students will also explore how photographs are selected, presented and exhibited, enabling them to discuss, evaluate and showcase their own photographic work.
