Year 9 Music allows students to explore the origins of music and develop their own contemporary style through independent inquiry and practical tasks.

Students rehearse and perform music both in groups and independently, while deepening their understanding of modern music genres and how they have evolved. They then apply this knowledge to refine their practical and digital music skills, composing and presenting original works.

The subject introduces students to current music industry practices, providing insight into the roles of musicians, producers, and sound engineers. Assessment tasks include song analysis and performance, and composition.
