Year 9 Overview

At Fountain Gate Secondary College, Year 9 students can be part of one of the following programs: 

• High Achievers’ Program (HAP) 
• Rugby Academy 
• General Program 

While most students will be placed in the General Program, students will be placed in the Enrichment classes for English and/ or Mathematics if their data is eligible. 

All programs support future pathways into VCE General or VCE Vocational Major in the senior years. 

If students would like to be considered for the Rugby Academy, they should indicate this when making their subject selections in Thrive.  There is a formal application and interview process that must also be completed. 

Students are placed in Mathematics, English or English as an Additional Language (EAL) based on eligibility and student performance data.
