ONE of the four elective choices for Year 10 students they make is a FREE choice elective.
The free-choice subject will come from one of the following areas:
There is no rule that students must choose from a specific area for this elective. Students could elect to study an additional elective from the Guided Choice set (Arts, Technology, Health & Physical Education), or strengthen their learning in Science or Humanities.
All electives are 10 periods a fortnight.
The Science and Humanities electives will have a large theoretical component, with opportunities to apply skills and knowledge in practical settings. These electives fall under the ‘theory and practical application’ type of elective.
Students who elect to study the Science or Humanities electives will need to discuss their literacy and numeracy capabilities with the school.
The two types of electives are:
Theory and practical application:
Theoretical aspects that prepare the student for subjects in a VCE General Pathway
While the subject has practical elements, this learning is dependent on the theory being completed
This subject also suits as preparation for VCE VET
Applied practical learning:
More practical based.
Theory linked to note taking, planning/ organising, designing or communicating quick ideas.
Build practical skills and knowledge – especially where precise practical skills are needed in VCE VET.
