Year 10 Geography is an exciting subject for students who are curious about the world around them and want to understand how people and environments are connected. Students will explore some of the most significant environmental challenges facing Australia and the world, investigating how natural and human activities can cause environmental change. Through real-world case studies, they will examine issues such as climate change, deforestation, land degradation, and other environmental challenges, analysing their causes, impacts, and the strategies used to manage and respond to them.
Students will also discover how their everyday choices, from what they buy to how they travel, connect them to people, places, and environments across the globe. By exploring globalisation, sustainability, and human-environment interactions, students will gain a deeper understanding of how places are shaped and transformed over time. Through engaging investigations, mapping activities, research projects, and the analysis of contemporary issues, students will develop valuable critical thinking, problem-solving, and geographical inquiry skills while gaining a greater appreciation of the world they live in and their role in creating a more sustainable future.
Year 10 Students will learn about environmental change and management & geographies of human wellbeing e.g. human-induced environmental changes and their impacts on the sustainability of places and environmental functions.
